Dr Brian Hawney

Dr Brian Hawney was born and bred in North Queensland.  He graduated from the University of QLD with M.B.B.S. He had further training at  Townsville and Gold Coast Hospitals as well as in the U.K.  He also has a Diploma in Dermoscopy and a Certificate in Advanced Skin Cancer Surgery.

Dr Hawney joined Currumbin Medical Centre in 1981 and has worked here continuously in a full time capacity since then.

Special interests include skin cancer medicine, chronic disease management, family medicine and continues to deal with all aspects of General Practice.

Dr Madonna Mulheran

Dr Madonna Mulheran was born and bred in Brisbane. She graduated from University of Qld with a M.B.B.S.  She did further training at Townsville and Tweed Heads  Hospitals.

After working in Practices in the Tweed Heads/Coolangatta areas for many years she joined Currumbin Medical Centre in 2001.

Her special interests include Women’s Health, Obstetrics/Gynaecology and total patient care for all the family.  She also does surgical assisting for  Surgeons and Gynaecologists at John Flynn Hospital.

Dr Rose Kurian

Dr. Rose Kurian

Dr Rose Kurian Graduated from The University Of Medicine Calicut, India in 2003 and moved to the Midlands, UK for further studies.

During this time in the UK at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Dr. Kurian worked in areas such as Accident & Emergency, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatry.

Dr Kurian moved to Australia in 2009 after completing her MRCGP and subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice.

Dr Kurian has a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and provides Implanon insertion and removal. She is also trained in Skin Cancer Medicine and provides minor surgical procedures.

Dr Mark Friel

Dr Mark Friel is Queensland raised and educated, completed a degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.

He has worked as a Registrar in many of the hospitals in South East Queensland, in fields such as General Surgery and Intensive Care prior to completing his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Friel completed additional education and training with extended skills in ENT, a Masters in Perioperative Medicine through Monash and the Diploma of Child Health through Sydney University.

Dr Friel joined Currumbin Medical Centre in 2019. He is dedicated to providing a comprehensive approach to primary care including preventative and therapeutic medicine.

He believes in the importance of continuing education to provide high quality medicine and is committed to lifelong learning for his own interest and his patients benefit.
